The Willow Hill Lodge Story

Willow Hill Lodge was a dream for many years before coming to reality in 2020.

Cathy is the Experience Curator here at Willow Hill and her husband James helps maintain the vast property.

They purchased the home near Longview, Alberta in 2018 and began to lovingly restore and renovate it so they could turn it into a Bed and Breakfast and share the beautiful surroundings with guests. Their continuing goal is to be able to build a place for people to come and stay in a peaceful setting where they can forget about the world outside, even if only for a short while. The sound of nature and quiet is all around you at Willow Hill Lodge.

The property is located in ranching country and is 1 km north of Longview, Alberta. They are 15 km south of Black Diamond and 18 km south of Turner Valley. Calgary is a 45 minute drive from the property.

The home they offer for the Bed and Breakfast is a log home built on a hillside, and boasts some of the best views of the valley and the Alberta Rocky Mountains.

The luxury suite is in a separate self enclosed unit in the home with no shared spaces. It includes a private outdoor covered deck with a gas firepit. In addition, there are 2 seasonal summer glamping units that include a covered wagon and a 1940 Fargo grain truck converted to a tiny suite. The whole property can also be booked during the summer months to accommodate groups of up to 11 people.

The property offers many places to walk and hike throughout its 67 acres. If you are adventurous, you can hike up the hill to see the beautiful landscapes, or choose to take meandering walks through the rest of the property. There is a western theme throughout that includes a Wild West town, a garden, firepits and coming soon is an Enchanted Forest walk. Don't forget to bring some good walking shoes so you can experience all the Lodge has to offer.

The wildlife is abundant as deer, eagles, owls and other birds call the property their home and you can occasionally catch a glimpse of the local moose. They have named her Lucy!

Willow Hill Lodge is close driving distance to Kananaskis country hiking, sightseeing in the mountains, historical sites and museums. The area also boasts some amazing eateries, breweries and world class dining. The city of Calgary is less than an hour to drive to and also offers an abundance of activities for any traveller. No matter which direction you travel from the property, you will find all types of sites and activities to explore. Trust us when we say one night is not enough!
